Happy Holidays from the Advanced Grid Institute (AGI)! Before we wrap up the year, we would like to share a couple of announcements.
AGI Co-Director Transitions to New WSU Institute
AGI Co-Director Noel Schulz will be stepping down from her AGI position at the end of 2023. She has transitioned to Washington State University’s (WSU's) Institute for Northwest Energy Futures (INEF) as the inaugural director since August 2023. INEF is a new research center located on the WSU Tri-Cities campus that is addressing the increasing demands for resilient, affordable, and available low-carbon electricity and transportation fuels.
The institute is working to coordinate industry partnerships for energy ecosystem research and fostering community discussions for policy development at the state and national levels. The institute is also developing curriculum to support future workforce needs across various energy sectors.
Schulz will continue with AGI as a joint appointee with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).
AGI Announces New Co-Director
Anamika Dubey will replace Noel Schulz as AGI's new co-director beginning January 1, 2024.
Dubey is Huie-Rogers Endowed Chair Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at WSU, Pullman. She also holds a joint appointment as a research scientist at PNNL. She received her MSE and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012 and 2015, respectively. Her research focuses on the scalable integration of cross-domain models and data to provide better decision support for increasingly complex electric power grids. Currently, Dubey's lab is actively working on climate change adaptation solutions for the power grid via hazard modeling, risk-averse planning, and distributed operations.
She is a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award (2019), the WSU EECS Early Career Award (2020), the WSU Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture Jr. Faculty Research Award (2021), the WSU Pacesetter Award in Physical Sciences & Engineering (2021), and the IEEE Power and Energy Society Outstanding Young Engineer Award (2023).
Retirement Announcement
Linda Howell, AGI’s administration and communications coordinator, has retired as of November 1. We are grateful for her contributions to AGI throughout the years and wish her well in her retirement.
